Narrative Short Film

Nine Minutes and Forty One Seconds

Silver Alert is a short film created as my senior thesis project for my BFA degree at the University of Central Florida. This project was filmed throughout the state of Florida over the course of three months.

I wanted to create this film Silver Alert as I was going into my final year and final project at film school. I wanted to make some sort of ode to Florida as it's played a large part in determining me and my own identity. What's the best way of doing that you ask? Why not do a road movie? So, me and my crew loaded up into a fifteen-person passenger van and we hit the road driving around the Central Florida region. This film took form when we were all boots on the ground, the cast had met, and the crew was ready, I followed the script loosely and wanted that freeform documentary feeling to be felt through the image. This film will always be special to me as we had many unfortunate events that really made me think that this thing wasn’t going to get finished and see the light of day. This film taught me a lot about myself, about the number of problems and hurdles life will throw at you all at once, and to not let that affect you. You’ve just got to make things happen no matter what it takes and with whatever resources you’ve got available.
